Precise control jigs for your serial production

Detect deformations and damage and check tolerances with control jigs from AUTFORCE.

Precise control jigs for quality assurance

Control Jigs & Gauges are essential industrial equipment used in manufacturing and quality control to check components for dimensional accuracy, shape, fit and other specific tolerances. It serves as a reference to ensure that manufactured parts meet the desired specifications and tolerances before they enter further production or assembly processes.

Integration of control jigs in automated systems

In automated production lines, control jigs can be integrated into robotic systems or inspection stations, which further speeds up the inspection and enables faulty parts to be sorted out automatically.

Main functions of a control jig

Dimensional check

The control jig is manufactured to check specific dimensions and geometries of the component. It is adapted to the specific shapes and contours of the part in order to detect deviations in length, width, height or specific distances.
Typically, this involves adhering to tolerances, as even small deviations could impair the function.

Position check and dimensional accuracy

Some control jigs are equipped with styli or moving elements that ensure that certain holes, threads or positions on the workpiece are correct. This checks whether critical points are exactly where they should be.
This function is particularly important for die-cast parts that require precise mounting points or recesses for other components.

Parallelism and flatness check

Components can be distorted during production due to thermal effects. The control jig can detect flatness and parallelism errors by scanning the workpiece at several measuring points. Irregularities or deformations are immediately visible when placed in the control jig, which enables reworking or sorting out defective parts.

Visual quality inspection

Control jigs can be equipped with optical inspection devices. Visual inspection ensures that there are no surface defects, blowholes (air pockets) or unwanted cracks on the component. This inspection function is often carried out in combination with other mechanical tests.

Speed and reproducibility

A control jig makes it possible to carry out quality control quickly and reproducibly, as the component is often only placed in the control jig and, if necessary, checked using simple mechanical test equipment such as probes, test pins, sensory probes or similar.
This saves time compared to complex measuring methods such as 3D coordinate measuring machines and ensures efficient testing in the production process.

Error sorting and documentation

In series production, a control jig can help to sort out defective parts directly and document their defect characteristics with the help of our autfactory test bench software. This reduces rejects and keeps quality standards constant.

Difference between control jig and test bench

Control jigs and test systems are both used in the quality control of components. The aim of both is to ensure the dimensional accuracy and quality of parts, but they differ fundamentally in their design and functionality.

Control jigs focus on tolerance checks of shape and dimensions, while test systems carry out more comprehensive functional tests or load tests. While control jigs detect deformations and damage, test systems test how components react under real operating conditions.

Control jigs are a less complex alternative to testing systems. They are limited in terms of the possible tests, but are more cost-effective and save time in the production process.

Customized control jigs for your company

Our control jigs are precisely adapted to your requirements and offer maximum accuracy in quality assurance. You can rely on our many years of expertise and state-of-the-art manufacturing technologies to optimize your production processes.

Applications for control jigs

  • Aluminum or steel die casting: Inspection of mechanical components for compliance with tight tolerances and detection of defects.
  • Plastic injection molded parts: Ensure that components such as housings or cladding parts have exact external dimensions and no deviations in shape.
  • Sheet metal parts: Checking punched or deep-drawn sheet metal parts for exact contours and hole spacing.
  • Gears: Ensuring the correct tooth geometry and diameter for mounting in gearboxes.
  • etc.

Advantages of control jigs

Cost-efficient

The use of control jigs reduces the need for expensive measuring machines and saves working time. As the control jigs are durable and easy to use, they reduce the costs of quality control and employee training in the long term.

Easy to use

The use of control jigs does not require specialized training, which makes them ideal for use by production employees. This decentralizes testing expertise, which increases flexibility in production.

Quick check

Rapid testing on the production line means that faulty parts are sorted out immediately, minimizing waste and preventing defective parts from being processed in later stages. Regular checks with control jigs ensure that products always remain within the specified tolerances. This high and consistent quality promotes customer satisfaction and supports compliance with quality standards.
