Due to safety and reliability concerns, the potential of artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics remains largely untapped in the European manufacturing industry. This is where the SoliDAIR project, which is funded by the European Union, comes in.
The project aims to increase the acceptance of AI and robotics in the European manufacturing industry. Ten experts from manufacturing, technology and research were brought together to realize the project.
As part of the project, solutions for the digitalization and automation of visual inspections and physical tests are being developed. This enables predictive quality controls and process optimization. The aim is to improve production processes through automated quality controls. The newly developed technologies are being tested in four real-life use cases to verify their functionality.
These use cases are led by established European manufacturing companies and address issues that the manufacturing industry faces on an ongoing basis. Their solution increases process efficiency and flexibility while improving the working conditions of production staff. The developed solutions and methodologies should be easily adaptable and applicable to other areas. This will strengthen the competitiveness and sustainability of European manufacturing companies.
