High process reliability
Test bench as a backup solution for stable and fail-safe production operations.
How can a 6-phase 48 V inverter be tested at the end of the production line in such a way that production peaks are absorbed and the line remains stable? This was precisely the challenge facing our customer: the existing EOL testing system had reached its limits and needed to be relieved in order to be able to cope with future peaks safely.
The answer is a semi-automatic e-mobility inverter load test bench: the operator inserts the inverter manually, after which insulation tests, communication and hardware checks, and functional tests are performed fully automatically. Automatic AC and DC contacting plays a special role here, enabling reliable testing despite very limited space and offering customers a fully-fledged backup to their existing test benches.

The operator manually inserts the 6-phase 48 V inverter into the holder and aligns it using centering pins. As soon as the lift door is closed and the start button is pressed, the test specimen is automatically secured in place. This ensures that the inverter is held in the correct position in a reproducible manner throughout the entire test run.
After clamping, the system takes over the contacting. The cooling connections are automatically fed, followed by the high-voltage DC and AC connections. The AC phases are contacted on both sides, while the DC side is connected via a highly compact spring contact solution.
This results in reliable contacting in a confined space with:
Once the inverter is fully connected, the automatic test sequence starts. The following tests are performed in a continuous process:
All steps are performed without any further action by the operator. The system monitors the status and displays the current test step and any malfunctions on the screen and via signal lights.
Once the test run is complete, all contacts are disconnected and the inverter is released. The result is displayed on the screen, and the measurement and process data are stored in autfactory, where they are available for traceability and evaluation purposes. The operator can remove the tested inverter and insert the next test item.
