The inverter then failed completely, with the display and controls no longer responding. AUTFORCE was commissioned to conduct a <strong>comprehensive investigation<\/strong> to determine the cause of the incident and prevent similar damage in the future.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>Since there was no standardized test method for this specific fault scenario, AUTFORCE developed a <strong>customized test setup<\/strong> as part of its Testing-as-a-Service offering. Upon opening, it was found that <strong>the fire had started in the area of the connection board<\/strong>. The switch itself was hardly affected. This indicates that the cause could be an electrical process that occurred during shutdown.   <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We then developed a test setup to recreate this moment in the laboratory.<br\/>To do this, the connection board was connected to an external power source and gradually exposed to different conditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"sflist-round wp-block-list\">\n<li>No flashover occurred at normal room temperature.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>After the circuit board had cooled down to around 8 degrees Celsius, the temperature difference caused a fine layer of<strong> condensation to form on the surface<\/strong>. Under these conditions, an <strong>electrical flash-over occurred between the contact and the housing<\/strong>, destroying the circuit board. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:40px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Result of the analysis<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>When the system is switched off, a <strong>voltage spike <\/strong>occurs which, when combined with moisture, can trigger an <strong>electric arc<\/strong>.
